Galatians 3:29… And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.
Up In The ATIK
05/04/09
Just a quick heads up about some changes taking place in da’ Atik (our upstairs youth sanctuary) on Wednesday nights. Starting last Wednesday, there will be three classes offered upstairs in which our young folks will participate. Brett Fincher and I will be teaching the guys (9-12 and 13-18) and Jamie Fincher and my wife, Debra, will be teaching the young ladies of the Lord (9-12 and 13-18). Student Ministries Coordinator, Barbara Snyder, will continue teaching the younger children’s class. And our Tech expert, Joel Tiller, and his wife, Brandy (our administrative guru), are helping coordinate numerous ministry ventures.
We’re excited about the upcoming months, with many of our kids preparing for Youth Camp, which is right around the corner! Also, there are some cool things on the way (e.g. the guyz are getting ready to go camping; the ladies will have a girlz’ night out [with a bash at the 'Tiller Plaza']; and there is a jam-up lock-in on the horizon [details soon to come]…). So, call a neighbor, text a friend, let your family know about the tremendous developments underway in da’ Atik!
Peace
PS: All those who would love to help out with the youth ministry (in any way), please contact our Student Ministries Coordinator, Barbara Snyder.
The Atik Is On Fire
03/14/09
On Sunday night, March 8th at 6:00pm, we had our monthly Atik service. We started the service with a few comments about our desire to raise up youth and children that are leaders in the Kingdom. Brett Fincher played keyboards for us and sang with the ACOG children and youth as they led the church in praise and worship. After praise and worship, Arlon Fincher blessed us with his song, The Light of That City. The Angels of Mercy drama team did an awesome job praising God to the song Shackles. I believe that everyone in the church was moved by their enthusiastic worship.
Jeremy Atchley, a local evangelist, preached a sermon entitled “Don’t Look Back”. He did a tremendous job of sharing God’s word with us. It is obvious that Jeremy is passionate about God and will be a force in preparing young people for ministry in the Kingdom. I was impressed with his knowledge of the Word and his ability to relate to our youth and children in such a tender hearted manner. He closed out the message with a very moving altar service. We would definitely love to have him join us again sometime.
I am proud of our young people and thrilled with their desire to actively participate in ministry. The more active they are in church, the less likely they are to be pulled away from God by worldly temptations. We want to keep them moving onward and upward as they grow in the their relationships with God. Thanks to our church family for your continued support.
With Love,
Barbara
Valentines Day Is Close

ACOG Mom’s, Dad’s and Grandparents:
Do we have an offer for you? On Friday night, February 13th, the children’s department will sponsor a Parent’s Night Out from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. We will provide dinner, a movie, games, snacks, and loads of fun for your children/grandchildren for the very low price of $5.00 per child. Please take this opportunity to enjoy a night out with your sweetie and leave the babysitting to us. There will be a sign-up sheet in the foyer of the church so we can have a head count for the evening.
Thanks!
Barb
The Atik Service Review
02/03/09
The Atik Service this past Sunday night was great! Brett Fincher, along with the ACOG kid’s, led praise and worship. They were followed by the Angels of Mercy Drama Team as they worshiped to the song, Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone). A young man from Addison Church of God named Ory Hampton delivered the sermon. He posed the question, “Jesus gave His all for us, what are we willing to give for Him?”
We are so proud of our children and their desire to be actively involved in ministry. Thanks so much to our church family for supporting the Atik Services. Our next one will be on Sunday night, March 1st at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. We hope you will come and join us!
Love,
Barb
Christmas County Spelling Bee

The children’s department of ACoG will be selling DVDs of the children’s musical performed in our sanctuary. If you know of anyone needing to purchase a copy of this please direct them to Barbara Snyder or Brandy Tiller. We have included all parts of the program including the call of salvation. We believe this could be another tool used to advance the Kingdom. This will help support the children’s ministry as all monies will go directly to the children’s department.
Thanks,
Children Dept. Staff

The Christmas Country Spelling Bee
12/23/08
The children in our church performed a Christmas play this past Sunday and they did a wonderful job. They had worked diligently for almost three months, practicing and working on getting it just right. And it was just right.
As the children’s Pastor, Barbara Snyder, said, it is something about the children that packs a house; as it should. We should all support our kids in all that they seek to do that will enrich their lives. And the gospel of Jesus Christ will decidedly do that.
I just want to report here that they did do an amazing job. From the smallest to the largest of them, they all seemed to be right on cue and if not, it was not noticeable from where I sat. The play had them spelling some of the many names for Jesus that are found in the Bible. Most of them got them right and I have a suspicion that even the ones who got them wrong, only did it to advance the script.
I was touched, moved and very proud of them. Keep up the good work.
I received notice this week from the Alabaster Beautification Board that our Children’s Department received a 3rd place prize in the recent Alabaster Christmas Parade. The prize was awarded in the category of “Best Use of Theme”. The letter was very complimentary of our entry and came with a $100.00 check for Children’s Ministry.
We are very proud of these young people and want to extend a special thank you to Ms. Laura, Ms. Carrie, and Mr. Patrick for pulling this effort together.
Merry Christmas!
Ms. Barbara
